As we continue to grow and expand our footprint as a multistate property management company, we value professionals who are ready to contribute, help strengthen our operations, and grow alongside the organization. 6 Star Management is seeking a Junior Accountant to join the corporate office team in Calabasas, California. This position supports the financial operations of the company's real estate portfolio by assisting with daily accounting transactions, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and accurate recordkeeping across multiple entities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop their accounting experience in a real estate environment. This role requires a foundational understanding of accrual accounting, the ability to manage recurring deadlines, and a willingness to work collaboratively with the accounting team, property management teams, and corporate staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare routine general ledger entries across multiple entities under the direction of senior accounting staff Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and assigned balance sheet accounts Review, code, and process invoices, maintain accounts payable records, and respond to vendor questions Assist with payment processing and record transactions in the appropriate entity and accounting period Post cash receipts, rent payments, and other tenant charges accurately and timely Maintain tenant receivable ledgers and assist with delinquency reporting, refunds, and security deposit activity Reconcile lease terms and rent schedules with the accounting system and assist with monthly rent roll audits Maintain intercompany schedules and assist with reconciliations across related entities Assist with financial statement preparation, internal reports, and budget-to-actual variance reviews Maintain records for capital improvements, fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization Support 1099 preparation, year-end tax reporting, audit schedules, and documentation requests Maintain complete and organized electronic accounting records in accordance with company procedures Collaborate with property managers and corporate staff to research and resolve accounting discrepancies Assist with accounting system updates, new property setup, data cleanup, and process improvements Maintain a professional, courteous, and solutions-oriented attitude and perform all other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications:
Foundational knowledge of accrual accounting principles, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn accounting systems Experience with Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, RealPage, QuickBooks, or another accounting system preferred Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines Ability to communicate effectively, work independently with direction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams Additional Requirements (Education, Training, and Experience): Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required Two to three years of accounting experience preferred; relevant internship experience may be considered Real estate, property management, or multi-entity accounting experience preferred
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
