Position Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team, reporting to the Accounting Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing regular account reconciliations, and supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and a commitment to data integrity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
General Ledger Maintenance:
Record, verify, and post daily financial transactions to ensure the general ledger is accurate and up to date.
Account Reconciliations:
Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable and various other balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Month-End/Year-End Close:
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules to ensure timely and accurate financial closings.
Compliance & Audit Support:
Ensure all accounting activities comply with GAAP and assist with external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
Operational Accounting:
Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring proper coding and approvals for all transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS 1-3
years of professional accounting experience, experience in public accounting or a similar industry, a plus. Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with different departments.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficiency in accounting software like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUPs, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, IF statements and other complex formulas. Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time-management abilities Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong Organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask and complete a wide variety of tasks. Ability to prioritize projects. Must have strong initiative with integrity and adaptability.
