Job Description

Description We are hiring a Senior Expense Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, expense management, and financial reporting. The Senior Expense Accountant will be responsible for overseeing procure-to-pay activities, accounts payable review, reconciliations, vendor coordination, reporting, and audit support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicative, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

+ Manage monthly invoice allocation for all combined bills, including telephone, legal, and other shared expenses

+ Oversee the full procure-to-pay cycle, including auditing invoices and RFPs, routing approvals, and processing payments

+ Ensure invoice processing is timely, accurate, and complete; investigate and resolve issues related to invoices and purchase orders

+ Conduct weekly accounts payable reviews and approve check runs

+ Follow up on account statements and resolve payment discrepancies, serving as a liaison between departments and vendors

+ Maintain professional, timely, and policy-compliant communication with vendors and staff

+ Manage third-party payor activity, including monthly revenue allocation/distribution and P& L reporting

+ Complete bank reconciliations for all checking accounts by the 10th of each month

+ Review and evaluate uncashed checks and open payables for various programs

+ Prepare and maintain the daily bank balance report, ensuring all electronic payments are posted in QuickBooks daily

+ Prepare and maintain the daily AMEX balance report to ensure positive available credit

+ Reconcile AMEX activity in QuickBooks against monthly statements

+ Assist with

IRS 1099

compliance and reporting for all entities

+ Support monthly financial reporting, including timely intercompany transaction processing

+ Assist the Controller and Senior Accountant with audit preparation, including gathering supporting documentation

+ Provide accounting support to the Controller and respond to financial questions and concerns as needed Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience covering areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, reconciliations, financial statement support, and audit preparation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising staff, assigning work, reviewing performance, and helping manage accounting operations in a lead capacity.
  • Strong background in month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting practices and solid proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing applications.
  • High level of discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism when handling confidential financial information.
