This contract Staff Accountant position in Moorpark, CA, is responsible for managing core accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in general ledger maintenance and a comprehensive understanding of month-end close procedures to support the organization's fiscal operations.

Per Hour BOE Responsibilities:
Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries by analyzing account information. Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations to maintain ledger integrity and financial accuracy. Support the full-cycle month-end and year-end close processes according to established timelines. Maintain the general ledger and reconcile sub-ledger accounts to ensure consistency in financial reporting. Assist with fixed asset management, including tracking additions and calculating monthly depreciation. Prepare financial statements and variance analysis reports for management review. Gather and organize supporting documentation for external auditors during year-end audit cycles. Analyze financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study. Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience in a staff-level role. Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency with enterprise-level ERP software and accounting systems. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables. Experience managing general ledger functions and complex account reconciliations. Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, contract-based professional environment.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds of office materials or files. Manual dexterity required for repetitive tasks such as data entry and keyboard operation.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $32 to $37 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
