Job Description

This is an opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take meaningful ownership of client work within an established Southern California CPA firm. The role combines tax preparation and compliance with planning, research, and direct client support across a diverse tax practice. The firm provides tax and accounting services to individuals and privately held businesses, with particular experience supporting small business owners, S-Corporations, real estate interests, and higher-income taxpayers. The practice takes a proactive, year-round approach to helping clients understand their tax position and make informed financial decisions. In this role, you will… Prepare and review complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses, partnerships, S-Corporations, and other entities Take ownership of assigned tax engagements from initial information gathering through preparation, review, and completion Support year-round tax planning, projections, and strategies designed to help clients make informed decisions before filing deadlines Research federal and state tax issues and translate technical guidance into practical recommendations Work directly with clients to gather information, answer tax questions, resolve issues, and maintain productive long-term relationships Assist with IRS and state tax notices, inquiries, and other tax compliance matters as needed Identify opportunities to strengthen workflows, improve accuracy, and make the tax preparation and review process more efficient What we're looking for Recent CPA firm experience required Hands-on experience preparing federal and state income tax returns Strong understanding of individual and/or business taxation Ability to research tax laws, regulations, and technical issues independently Experience managing multiple client engagements and tax deadlines with a high degree of accuracy Strong analytical and accounting foundation Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field If you are an experienced tax professional who enjoys solving complex tax questions, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of engagements from preparation through planning, we welcome a confidential conversation.
