POSITION DEFINITION
Temporary Utility Plant Accountant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Capital Projects Administration Sets up work orders for capital projects; including setting up annual approved budgets and processing of periodic budget transfers as required Actively monitors the status of capital projects with Engineers to ensure timely closing and recording of work orders to the utility plant records Month, Quarter and Year End Close Performs analysis and reconciliations on various general ledger accounts (such as unclaimed refunds, advances for construction and CIAC) on a monthly and quarterly basis Prepares monthly roll forward schedules for assigned general ledger accounts with a focus on utility plant and related general ledger accounts Maintains Fixed Asset accounting all-inclusive from asset set ups, transfers, depreciation, and sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliation Audits Main Extension Advance Contracts that have been set up and performs reconciliation of contract sub-ledgers to general ledger monthly Resolves data integrity and reporting issues of the contract module Assists in the preparation of quarterly financial support to provide Accounting and Reporting for quarterly Form 10-Q and 10-K filings to the SEC as well as support for annual government surveys and other compliance reporting such as FERC Form reports and other reporting requirements to the CPUC Other Responsibilities Processes Main Extension Contract refunds, prepares assignments and monitors accuracy of the contract refunds on a monthly basis Evaluates JDE Contract set up for Main Extension Contracts and makes recommendations of improvements to processes. Prepares and records special water rights billing and tracking payments Assists with data requests from other departments such as Tax and Regulatory Affairs, external and internal auditors and other regulatory agencies such as CPUC Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related discipline Five years of accounting experience, with increasing responsibility, in water/utility industry preferred Proficient with computerized office equipment, including demonstrated knowledge of advanced spreadsheet functions (Excel) Experience with JD Edwards software or major ERP is a plus Good communication (both oral and written) and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal skills; strong collaboration skills Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Access Database a plus Ability to research, interpret and compile analytical data. May include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws.
