Preferred qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA). Experience in GAAP with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606), Cost of Sales and Services (ASC 705), and Other Assets and Deferred Costs (ASC 340). In this role, you will be the Accountant behind YouTube's core business financials, safeguarding our Cost of Sales (CoS) reporting. You will manage complex, non-standard commercial agreements, manage journal entries, and design scalable, automated accounting processes. Working at the intersection of accounting, data engineering, and business strategy, you will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to build brand-new workflows and elevate existing systems—ensuring YouTube's expenses are reported accurately, timely, and at global scale. Responsibilities Drive month-end close for YouTube Cost of Sales under US GAAP, ensuring robust Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) controls and accurate financial reporting. Interpret and account for non-standard commercial agreements, minimum guarantees (MGs), complex business-share models, and bespoke media licenses. Oversee monthly settlement and payment cycles for creators, record labels, music publishers, and broadcast networks to ensure contract compliance and accuracy. Assess and implement accounting treatments for new product rollouts, evolving business models, and strategic operational changes. Partner across data engineering, business, and finance teams to eliminate bottlenecks and automate manual journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting pipelines.
