We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and play an integral role in serving our expanding client base. This position is ideal for a CPA with at least three years of public accounting experience who enjoys working directly with clients, resolving tax and accounting matters, reviewing the work of staff, and managing engagements from initial planning through completion. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assume meaningful client responsibility, strengthen their technical and supervisory skills, and continue advancing within the firm.
Position Responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of tax, accounting, supervisory, and client-service functions, including: Preparing and reviewing individual, business, fiduciary, and other income tax returns Preparing quarterly and annual tax projections and assisting clients with tax-planning strategies Researching federal and Colorado tax issues and communicating practical recommendations to clients Managing tax and accounting engagements from planning through completion Reviewing monthly bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and other accounting work prepared by staff Preparing and reviewing financial statements and year-end closing adjustments Identifying and resolving discrepancies in client accounting records Supervising, training, and providing constructive feedback to junior accounting staff Communicating directly with clients regarding tax, accounting, and business matters Developing and maintaining strong, professional client relationships Representing clients before the IRS, Colorado Department of Revenue, and other governmental agencies Assisting firm leadership with workflow management, quality control, and other special projects
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have: An active Colorado CPA license Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field At least three years of recent public accounting experience Strong experience preparing and reviewing individual, fiduciary, gift, estate, and business income tax returns At least 3 years of experience working with accounting software; QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred Experience with financial statement preparation and year-end close At least 3 years of experience with tax planning and projections A well-rounded understanding of federal and Colorado income tax principles Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to confidently communicate with clients and answer routine tax and accounting questions Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment Ability to successfully pass a background check Willingness to work additional hours during periods of increased workload, particularly during tax season (January 1-April 15)
