Job Description

Job Overview We're looking for someone who can own the numbers and use them to drive the business — equally comfortable closing the books, digging into margins, and picking up the phone to dispute an insurance matter. You'll play a key role in bringing structure to a growing logistics company while helping leadership make smarter, faster decisions. Duties Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes Enhance documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, including technical accounting analysis to ensure proper GAAP treatment Ensure compliance with SOX controls and lead internal and external audits Administer payroll functions including benefits administration and payroll tax compliance Support corporate accounting initiatives including tax preparation Handle day-to-day accounting tasks as needed, including AP, vendor communication, and issue resolution Conduct detailed analysis of financial data to identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency and perform financial analysis and modeling to evaluate performance, margins, and business trends Serve as the subject matter expert on risk management, including internal controls, operational risk, and insurance coverage and claims processing Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement including identifying, developing and executing on process automation Experience 6 - 10 years of progressive experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role within public accounting or corporate finance environments Strong understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation techniques Extensive knowledge of accounting software platforms and proven experience automating accounting processes Demonstrated ability to perform general ledger accounting, journal entries, analysis skills, and data entry with high accuracy Familiarity with payroll systems and benefits administration processes Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data effectively Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally CPA preferred but not required Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, or FP&A responsibilities Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger management Experience with SOX or JSOX preferred Experience managing insurance coverage, including an understanding of claims processing Comfort working with data-heavy systems (Access or similar) Ability to operate in a high-volume, lightly structured environment This role is designed for someone who has progressed beyond pure execution and is ready to take ownership of both accounting operations and financial insight in a high-volume, evolving environment. compliance, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting — while also working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to understand performance, identify opportunities, and make better business decisions. This is a highly hands-on role where no task is too small, and success requires the ability to operate independently, bring structure to ambiguity, and think like an owner. If you come from public accounting and have successfully transitioned into industry — and you're just as comfortable writing an accounting memo as you are calling a vendor to resolve an issue — this role is for you.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
