We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our team and assist in serving our expanding client base. This position is ideal for a recently licensed CPA or CPA candidate who is interested in developing a career in public accounting. Prior CPA-firm experience is helpful but not required. The successful candidate will receive practical experience in tax preparation, accounting, tax planning, and client service while working closely with experienced professionals. Position Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant will assist with a broad range of tax, accounting, and client-service functions, including:
  • Preparing individual, business, fiduciary, gift, estate, and other tax returns
  • Assisting with quarterly and annual income-tax projections
  • Performing monthly bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and related accounting services
  • Preparing financial statements and year-end closing adjustments
  • Reviewing client accounting records and identifying discrepancies or missing information
  • Conducting federal and Colorado tax research under the supervision of senior professionals
  • Assisting with responses to notices and correspondence from the IRS, Colorado Department of Revenue, and other governmental agencies
  • Communicating professionally with clients to obtain information and answer routine questions
  • Assisting with tax-planning projects and identifying potential tax-saving opportunities
  • Developing proficiency with the firm's tax-preparation, accounting, and workflow software
  • Managing assigned projects and meeting established deadlines
  • Staying current on relevant federal and Colorado tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements
  • Supporting senior accountants and firm leadership with tax, accounting, and other special projects
  • Participating in professional training and continuing education
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • An active CPA license or eligibility and a demonstrated commitment to completing the CPA examination
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • No prior public accounting experience required, although tax-preparation, bookkeeping, internship, or other accounting experience is preferred
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • A willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and continually develop technical skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential client information
  • The ability to successfully pass a background check
  • The willingness to work additional hours during periods of increased workload, particularly during tax season from January 1 through April 15
