Job Description

Job Overview:
We're looking for an experienced and confident Tax Manager to lead our tax department and oversee a team of preparers. This is a client-facing leadership role responsible for managing workflow, reviewing returns, providing strategic tax guidance, and ensuring every client feels cared for and confident. You'll serve as the primary point of contact for many of our business clients, leading tax strategy conversations, managing complex filings, and mentoring preparers to uphold our firm's high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage a team of tax preparers, ensuring all returns are accurate, timely, and compliant. Review and sign off on complex business and personal tax returns. Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing proactive tax planning and strategic advice throughout the year. Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and deliver tax strategies in clear, confident language. Ensure the team stays up to date on federal, state, and local tax laws. Lead the preparation and review of sales tax filings and multi-state returns when applicable. Identify process improvements to increase efficiency within the tax department. Collaborate with leadership to support firm-wide profit and growth goals. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to preparers to ensure consistent performance and growth.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Tax Preparer with a focus on small business and personal tax returns. Familiarity with tax preparation software and tools. EA Certification or CPA License Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations. Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing interactions. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Experience with sales tax preparation is a plus. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work within Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours.
