Job Description

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is looking for qualified candidates to fill their open Accountant I position.
Primary Functions:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Officer is responsible for assisting in processing the general ledger and related subsidiary ledgers. Maintains a high degree of accuracy, speed, and knowledge of and about the books of the Credit Union. Enters and maintains general ledger entries for funding, payments, accrued interest, premium/discount amortizations, and reconciliations for Participant and Student Loans. Reconciles corporate accounts and all related transactions on a daily basis. Along with the Senior Accountant, prepares the financial statements monthly. Must be familiar with the data processing system and routinely verify data processing control totals with general ledger totals. Along with the Controller, Accounting Officer and Senior Accountant, performs annual budget preparations and imports as assigned. Includes but are not limited to projections for depreciation, calculating estimates on Loan Income and Yields, and validating budgetary requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate/GED Equivalent with 5 years of experience in accounting; or Business School Graduate of an accredited college with the minimum of an AS in Accounting and 3 years of work experience. Knowledge of rules, regulations, compliance and laws which relate to accounting. Knowledge of financial institutions is preferred.
