Sr. Accountant
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned portions of the month-end close process to help ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and other adjustments, in alignment with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Maintain general ledger activity by reviewing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting overall account accuracy.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure balances are complete and properly supported.
- Complete bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items to keep cash activity current and accurate.
- Partner with the Controller to assist with monthly financial reporting and provide supporting schedules as needed.
- Use Microsoft Great Plains and Dynamics GP to record, review, and analyze accounting data across assigned areas.
- Leverage advanced Excel capabilities to organize data, reconcile accounts, and streamline recurring accounting tasks. Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior-level accounting role with direct responsibility for month-end close activities.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and accrual-based accounting.
- Hands-on experience completing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations in a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Great Plains Accounting or Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to analyze financial data and build efficient supporting schedules.
- Ability to support monthly reporting with a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
