Job Description

What to expect. Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting, financial reporting, and HUD compliance functions for the organization's HUD-assisted housing portfolio.
Specific responsibilities include:
Prepare a variety of financial analyses, accounting reports, PRAC renewal submissions, and other HUD-required reports and filings. Serve as the primary liaison with HUD Account Executives to facilitate timely approval of PRAC rents and resolve issues related to submitted requests. Develop and prepare annual HUD operating budgets and monitor actual financial performance against budgeted expectations, identifying and explaining variances. Monitor weekly HUD cash positions to ensure adequate funding is available for disbursements and program operations. Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules for all HUD entities Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and record related journal entries. Assist with annual financial audits, including HUD audits, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) requirements, and other sponsor or regulatory audits. Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, reporting requirements, and organizational accounting policies and procedures. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. What we need from you. Work requires professional level of knowledge of accounting principles and theory acquired through a bachelor's degree in accounting . Work requires level of knowledge of financial analysis and reporting, budgeting, intermediate excel skills, computerized accounting systems and related computerized systems - acquired through 3-5 years' progressively more responsible experience in general or grants accounting. Strong knowledge or work experience with HUD housing programs, including PRAC subsidies and regulatory reporting requirements is preferable. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with HUD representatives, auditors, and internal stakeholder.
