Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. Your expertise will help support the organization's financial health through precise data entry, account reconciliation, and financial analysis. Duties Perform bookkeeping duties including accounts payable and receivable management, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems. Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and general ledger accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare journal entries for month-end closing activities while adhering to double-entry bookkeeping principles. Conduct account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly. Maintain confidential financial information with the highest level of integrity while handling sensitive data securely. Assist in preparing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts by analyzing Excel data and performing spreadsheet data analysis. Support internal controls by adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards and assisting with audits as needed. Utilize various payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro for payroll processing and employee time tracking. Contribute to governmental accounting tasks when applicable, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Collaborate with external auditors and internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and recordkeeping. Qualifications Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles with a strong understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis. Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms; experience with Workday or UltiPro is a plus. Familiarity with GAAP standards and governmental accounting practices is preferred. Strong knowledge of financial software such as Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel for data analysis—and spreadsheets. Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation accurately. Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Experience handling confidential information responsibly while maintaining high ethical standards. Strong communication skills with a customer service-oriented mindset when interacting with vendors or internal teams. Knowledge of SOX compliance procedures and technical accounting practices is advantageous. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
