Job Description

Position Title Senior Accountant Location Troy, MI 48098 Job Summary The Accountant Sr will support
U.S. GAAP
compliance on a company wide basis by assisting in the performance or documentation of accounting policies for company-wide routine and non-routine accounting matters inherent in the banking industry. The position will also assist in external reporting and SOX internal controls review, applying and maintaining the Bank's accounting policies and procedures and working with business partners to ensure that controls and processes are in place to apply those policies.
Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior management to strategically develop, implement, perform and maintain accounting policies. Perform and document analysis of accounting matters and provide recommendations to management and business units including those related to unique transactions. May assist in the compilation and review of quarterly presentations made to the Executive Committee, Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee. Assist in the compilation and review of SEC filings (10K, 10Q, 8K and others as appropriate). May assist in the research and evaluation of transactions, legal contracts, business practices, and policies for compliance with accounting and regulatory reporting guidance. Assist in special projects and help to drive efficiencies and process improvements across the accounting organization Identify financial risks within the department and provide solutions to mitigate risks. Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions. Analyzes and resolves problems.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance or Accounting. Three years of accounting experience in corporate or public environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field is strongly desired. A CPA license is preferred. Mortgage, banking, or financial services experience. Strong business systems and applications skills desired.

Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership and employees within the organization. Ability to work under minimal supervision is required. Excellent computer skills are required - MS Office, MS Excel, Macros, database use Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights. Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results. Builds trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience. Fosters or supports a positive work culture and productive work environment, displaying importance of effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
