Job Description
We are looking for a Staff/ Cost Accountant to join our organization in the Albert Lea area. This position plays an important role in tracking production costs, supporting accurate financial reporting, and helping business leaders understand operational performance. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and month-end close within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities:
- Evaluate product cost structures by maintaining standard costs, reviewing inventory valuation, and investigating manufacturing variances.
- Prepare accounting entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts to support timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial close activities.
- Oversee inventory-related financial activity, assist with cycle counts and physical inventory events, and help strengthen inventory accuracy.
- Work closely with operations, production, and supply chain partners to assess plant performance and uncover opportunities to reduce cost and improve margins.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes through detailed cost reporting, variance analysis, and financial planning support.
- Provide documentation and analysis for internal and external audits while helping maintain compliance with accounting policies and control requirements.
- Perform ad hoc accounting tasks and financial analysis as needed to support business and departmental priorities.
