This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401K Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for an opprtunity with a growing organization in the Twin Cities. This individual will work closely with the Controller and serve as a key right-hand resource within the accounting department. The Staff Accountant will take ownership of core general ledger and month-end responsibilities while helping keep the accounting function organized and moving forward. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can step in quickly, work independently, and take meaningful work off the Controller's plate. Key Responsibilities Partner closely with the Controller on day-to-day accounting activities and priorities Assist with and take ownership of key components of the month-end close process Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and general ledger adjustments Complete balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations Perform bank and cash reconciliations and research discrepancies Review account activity and investigate variances or unusual transactions Maintain supporting schedules and month-end documentation Assist with financial reporting and month-end reporting packages Support AP, AR, and transactional accounting functions as needed Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and outstanding items Assist with audit requests and supporting documentation Support process improvements and other ad hoc accounting projects Qualifications 3+ years of Staff Accountant, General Ledger Accountant, or similar experience Strong general ledger and month-end close experience Hands-on experience with journal entries and account reconciliations Ability to independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies Strong Excel skills Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities Ability to work closely with accounting leadership while independently owning responsibilities Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Staff Accountant who understands the bigger picture behind the numbers and can quickly become a trusted resource to the Controller. This person should be comfortable digging into the GL, identifying and resolving issues, and independently owning their responsibilities with minimal hand-holding.
