Full-time Staff Accountant Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support a growing fire, water, and storm restoration business in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting activities, and producing the financial reporting leadership relies on to make informed business decisions. Because this is a project-based, job-costed environment, every transaction connects to a specific project, insurance claim, and completion milestone. The ideal candidate understands job costing, work-in-progress reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly financial close processes . You will work closely with Operations, Construction, and company leadership to maintain financial accuracy, protect project margins, and improve accounting processes as the organization grows. Key Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Complete progress billing, insurance claim invoicing, deductible billing, and supplemental invoicing. Perform project-based job costing and maintain accurate work-in-progress schedules. Monitor project costs and margins to provide real-time financial visibility. Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts monthly. Assist with the monthly accounting close process. Prepare division-level profit and loss statements and gross-margin reports. Reconcile estimating and production information against the general ledger. Identify discrepancies, billing gaps, cost leakage, and coding errors before they affect financial results. Prepare and communicate financial reports to company leadership. Maintain compliance with applicable financial regulations, insurance-industry requirements, and internal controls. Recommend and implement accounting process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. Partner with operational and construction teams to resolve accounting and project-costing questions. Qualifications At least 3 years of accounting experience . Experience in construction, restoration, insurance claims, or another project-based or job-costed industry is strongly preferred. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or comparable general ledger software. Working knowledge of job costing, work-in-progress accounting, and percentage-of-completion concepts . Experience with construction project management or professional services automation platforms is preferred. Xactimate experience is a plus. Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on accounting experience will also be considered. Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify errors before they become larger financial issues. Highly organized, dependable, and capable of managing responsibilities independently. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization where processes continue to evolve.
