- Ensure various ledgers and records are properly accounted for and controlled.
- Perform daily accounting and reconciliation for various AWM products.
- Provide analysis and reporting to internal and external sources.
- Partner with the business to develop and implement accounting practices consistent with GAAP and applicable governing agencies, including FINRA, SEC, OTS, IRS, NAIC, and insurance examiners.
- Perform accounting processes for a variety of transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal and external policies, procedures, and authorizations.
- Prepare journal entries involving more complex accounting functions.
- Review, analyze, and resolve moderately complex accounting transaction issues.
- Follow specific and detailed accounting procedures.
- Coordinate and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for inclusion in 10-Q, 10-K, and statutory/regulatory filings.
- Own assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Research and clear outstanding reconciling transactions using system reports, internal data, and information from external sources such as custodians.
- Provide oversight for reconciliation of general ledger balance sheet accounts.
- Perform analytical reviews of monthly reconciliations, ensure appropriate controls are in place, and resolve variances.
Typical DayThe Senior Accountant will likely spend much of the day reviewing general ledger and balance sheet activity, completing or reviewing reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and investigating differences or outstanding transactions. They may need to pull information from multiple systems or coordinate with external custodians to resolve discrepancies. During month-, quarter-, and year-end periods, the position will have an increased focus on financial reporting, account analysis, controls, and information required for regulatory and SEC reporting.
