Position Overview The Project Accountant supports project teams by ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and aligned with contract requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining project financial health through billing, compliance tracking, job cost support, and communication with internal teams, vendors, and customers. You'll work closely with project managers, operations, and accounting to keep projects moving efficiently from setup through closeout. This position requires attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to take initiative when resolving discrepancies or managing competing priorities. Key Responsibilities Set up new construction jobs in the accounting system, including budgets and contract details Prepare and process AIA billings and support owner billing documentation Track and record daily cash receipts and assist with accounts receivable activities Coordinate accounts payable processes, including vendor invoice review and discrepancy resolution Ensure lien waiver compliance across all active projects Review vendor contracts and agreements to confirm alignment with billing and payment terms Respond to vendor and subcontractor payment inquiries in a timely and professional manner Process certified payroll reports and assist with submission requirements Support payroll timecard entry and workers' compensation reporting Monitor subcontractor compliance requirements, including insurance certificates and documentation Track and reconcile credit card expenses and employee reimbursements Assist with job cost tracking, expense coding, and financial reporting Support sales tax filings and other compliance-related reporting Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with project closeout activities Assist with inventory tracking and reporting as needed Contribute to month-end close processes and other accounting initiatives Perform general data entry and administrative accounting tasks as required Other duties may be assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Degree in Accounting is preferred 1+ year of accounting or construction-related experience preferred Experience with AIA pay applications and lien waivers preferred Full-cycle accounts payable or receivable experience is a plus Familiarity with construction accounting systems (Foundation Software preferred) Experience with Procore, GCPay, or similar platforms is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Effective communication skills with the ability to work across teams Problem-solving mindset with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies Benefits Health Insurance, HSAs and FSAs, Dental & Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, 401(k) with Company Match, Profit Sharing, Paid Time Off (PTO), Professional Development, Referral Program, and more.
