This is a newly created position, brought on to strengthen our financial operations as the business continues to grow. We are a lean, established organization where the work is visible and the person doing it matters. Role Description We are expanding our accounting function, and this role is central to that. The Accountant manages the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including recording and reconciling transactions, preparing and reviewing general ledger entries, and maintaining accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records in a high-volume, fast-turning environment. The Accountant will prepare monthly and annual financial statements, support budgeting and forecasting, and monitor cash flow closely
- critical in a business where inventory turns quickly and payment timing drives everything.
A central part of this role is inventory: maintaining accurate inventory valuation, reconciling physical counts to the books, tracking cost of goods sold, and identifying discrepancies or shrinkage before they become problems. The role also includes reconciling freight and delivery costs, tracking margin by order and by shipment, calculating sales commissions, and providing ownership with clear, timely reporting on financial performance. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls, and assisting with audits and year-end close. The Accountant works directly with ownership and closely with the sales team. This position starts immediately. Required Qualifications Five or more years of accounting experience. Demonstrated experience managing and accounting for physical inventory
- valuation, reconciliation, cycle counts, and cost of goods sold. Candidates must understand how inventory moves through a business, not simply how to record it. Proficiency in QuickBooks

Strong command of general accounting practices, including bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and journal entry preparation. Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Solid working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payment management. Familiarity with tax regulations, compliance standards, and audit preparation for small to mid-sized businesses. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work directly with ownership, sales, and outside vendors. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines reliably. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the lumber or forest products industry is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Agility is a significant plus. Background in wholesale or distribution. Experience with freight cost reconciliation and commission calculation. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or similar certification is a plus.
