Job Description
Associate, Fund Finance Job Description:
The Associate, Fund Finance position will be part of the Fund Expense Administration subgroup, which is responsible for critical functions centering around fund expense administration and oversight, including budgeting, vendor payments, and internal and external reporting. This role actively works with individuals throughout the firm, third-party service providers, and external auditors to provide information and meaningful insights. This position will be responsible for proactive enhancement of current processes, strengthening of controls, and building new efficiencies in data intake, organization, and visualization.Duties & Responsibilities:
Fund Expense and Reporting Oversight- Oversees service provider billing workflow from invoice receipt through accurate and timely payment.
- Develops strong understanding of all vendor contract obligations, policies, and rates.
- Assists with monthly analyses of expense ratios, caps, and waivers.
- Contributes to the preparation and review of essential internal and external deliverables, including fund prospectuses and reporting presented to our North American Fund Board.
- Participates in various business initiatives, such as new fund launches, mergers, and conversions.
- Identifies opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes through new technology, data manipulation, systems integration, and innovative thinking.
- Maintains numerous components that are critical to the team's operations, such as data tables, procedures, SharePoint lists, and process documentation. Financial & Regulatory Reporting Oversight
- Assists with annual and semi-annual requests from external auditors.
- Supports the review of various regulatory filings, including but not limited to, annual and semi-annual N-CSR (including Tailored Shareholder Reporting), N-CEN, 24F-2, N-PORT, Form PF and Form CPO-PQR.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry with asset management product experience (mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, and private funds). Fund accounting knowledge a plus.
- Prior experience working for and/or closely with third-party service providers.
- Exceptional professional verbal and written skills; must be able to articulate clear point of view on technical matters in concise and meaningful communications with various levels of the organization.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers. Highly motivated, participative, and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Capable of effectively managing and delivering on multiple deadlines while using sound judgement.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to identify areas of risk, inefficiencies, and operational gaps to develop possible resolutions.
- Effectively balance working efficiently and investing the time required to complete tasks in a controlled manner.
- Strong attention to detail and comfortable working with large amounts of data.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and non-public information with discretion.
- Understanding of electronic payments is a plus (fed wires, SWIFT payments, etc.) Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with Microsoft tools (intermediate to advanced Excel skills) and Business Intelligence solutions to create efficient, well-controlled processes (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate).
