Exempt Supervisory responsibility: None Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee key operational accounting functions, including inventory, fixed assets, capital projects, fleet accounting, and month-end close activities. This role partners closely with Finance and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient processes. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, comfortable working independently, and interested in using technology, automation, and AI to improve accounting processes. Key Responsibilities Manage bulk inventory accounting, reconciliations, variances, and adjustments. Oversee fixed asset, depreciation, capitalization, and capital project accounting. Support fleet accounting and assigned month-end and year-end close activities. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and financial analyses. Investigate unusual transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment. Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and documentation. Identify process weaknesses, determine root causes, and recommend practical improvements. Partner with Operations and Finance on cross-functional projects. Explore opportunities to improve reporting, analysis, and productivity through automation and AI. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Three to five years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and advanced Excel skills. Experience with inventory, fixed assets, or capital projects preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently. Interest in technology, automation, and continuous improvement. Experience with Sage Intacct, Cargas, petroleum, fuel distribution, manufacturing, or distribution is a plus.
