Job Description
Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation Prepare individual income tax returns, including returns with Schedules C, E and F. Gather and organize missing information; communicate with clients when questions arise. Prepare complete, well-supported, reviewer-ready tax files and workpapers. Assist with extensions, estimates, notices and tax-planning support. Develop into preparation of simple 1120S and 1065 returns, with review and training. Assist with reviewing data-entry and intern-prepared work as experience develops. Client accounting and bookkeeping Reconcile bank, credit-card, loan and payroll accounts. Review and clean up QuickBooks files. Prepare adjusting journal entries and year-end workpapers. Help ensure payroll liabilities, fixed assets, debt and equity accounts are properly reflected. Identify bookkeeping issues before they create tax-season problems. Prepare tax-ready financial information for senior accountant review. Communicate professionally with business clients regarding missing information, accounting questions and follow-up items. Team and workflow Work closely with senior accountants, administrative staff, payroll staff and seasonal team members. Help improve checklists, workpapers, handoffs and recurring client procedures. Assist with training interns and entry-level staff as appropriate. Participate in a team environment focused on accuracy, timeliness, client service and continuous improvement. Qualifications Two or more years of tax preparation, public accounting, bookkeeping or closely related accounting experience required. Ability to independently prepare individual returns with Schedules C, E and F. Strong QuickBooks and bank-reconciliation skills. Familiarity with business tax returns, payroll and year-end accounting adjustments is preferred. Strong attention to detail, organization and follow-through. Comfortable communicating directly with clients by phone, email and in person. Willingness to learn, accept review feedback and take on increasing responsibility.EA, CPA, CPA
candidate or accounting degree is preferred, but not required for the right candidate. Compensation and work scheduleSalary:
$54,000-$66,000 annually, depending on experience and demonstrated ability. Full-time, year-round position. Mid-January through mid-April:
approximately 50-55 hours per week, depending on office workload. We can have some flexibility for the right candidate. Memorial Day throughLabor Day:
32-36 hours per week. Other periods of the year are generally scheduled at approximately 40 hours per week. Paid holidays, PTO, CPE and applicable professional licensing support. Health insurance and a retirement plan are not currently offered. The firm is actively evaluating both as future options, but they are not part of the current compensation package.
