  • Michael Foods, Inc's. Norfolk, Nebraska location is northwest of Omaha. The area is known for their manufacturing, farming (both livestock and grain), education, retailing, and wholesaling. Well-known as the home of Johnny Carson. Our location produces powdered and dehydrated meat and poultry products, for use in products such as seasonings, soups, and instant meals.
  • Responsibilities
  • SUMMARY
  • :•The Plant Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining standard costs and reconciling inventories as well as assisting in the monthly close process, annual budget process, monthly key performance indicator reporting, weekly and mind-month trend reporting, and process order monitoring.

This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • :•+ Responsible for the execution and accuracy of operating reporting throughout the month (trend, plant performance, consumption, labor, etc.

)

+ Monitor order variances throughput the month and act as a liaison between production and accounting to resolve discrepancies.

+ Responsible for monitoring SAP inventories to ensure their accuracy. Activities include periodic cycle counts, researching and posting variances, monitoring SAP material movements and process order variances.

+ Prepare and maintain standard cost estimates in SAP.

+ Assist in the completion of the month-end close (journal entries, order settlement, monthly variance reporting, KPI reporting).

+ Assist in the preparation of the annual operating plan.

+ Responsible for master data set up: resources, materials, BOMs, and recipes.

+ Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

+ Adhere to Quality work practices, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.

+ Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications
  • EDUCATION
  • + Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • EXPERIENCE
  • : + Demonstrate skills in all aspects of financial accounting or reporting.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others. (Bilingual in Spanish a plus)

+ Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ Aptitude for effective and efficient utilization of computer technologies.

+ Excellent computer skills including MS Office such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.

+ SAP and/or Cost Accounting in manufacturing a plus.
