Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations and help maintain accurate reporting for the business in Branchburg, New Jersey. This position plays an important role in managing core accounting activities, tracking project-related costs, and contributing to timely financial close processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with both finance and operational teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Record and maintain general ledger activity by preparing accurate journal entries and reviewing supporting documentation.
  • Handle day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
  • Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, researching discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
  • Track project-related expenses across labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services to support accurate job cost reporting.
  • Review project spending against budgets, investigate cost variances, and share insights that help improve profitability.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with internal management reports.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities by organizing records, validating entries, and meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation related to projects, contracts, and vendor files to support compliance and audit readiness.
  • Support work-in-progress reporting and project financial analysis to help leadership evaluate performance and forecast results.
  • Partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial visibility, improve reporting accuracy, and support planning efforts.
