full-time Position Summary The Project Accountant will support the financial management of active generation development projects, ensuring accurate project accounting, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and project cost controls. This role serves as a key liaison between project teams, accounting, procurement, treasury, and senior leadership, providing reliable financial data, reporting, and analysis throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Manage all aspects of project accounting for capital development projects, including project setup, cost tracking, budget monitoring, and financial reporting. Maintain project cost structures in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and ensure costs, commitments, purchase orders, and work orders are accurately recorded. Partner with Accounts Payable, procurement, and project teams to ensure proper cost coding, timely cost capture, and resolution of accounting discrepancies. Review requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, change orders, and retainage balances to ensure compliance with approved budgets and project controls. Support month-end close activities, including accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and Construction Work in Progress (CWIP) accounting. Monitor project budgets and communicate cost variances, risks, and financial performance to project managers and leadership. Assist with cash flow forecasting, funding requirements, and capital budget planning for multiple projects. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, investors, lenders, and auditors. Develop and maintain project spending reports, dashboards, and variance analyses utilizing D365, Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, and Excel. Ensure financial integrity through project cost audits, coding reviews, reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls. Support annual audits, tax reporting requirements, and process improvement initiatives, including workflow automation and reporting enhancements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or Master's degree preferred. 4 years+ of accounting experience, preferably supporting capital projects, construction accounting, energy, power generation, or other capital-intensive industries. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including capital project accounting, cost capitalization, CWIP, and asset classification. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Project Management module) or similar ERP/project accounting systems. Experience with budget preparation, variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, and project financial reporting. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, financial modeling, and large data set analysis. Experience with Power BI, Power Query, Fabric, and Microsoft Copilot is a plus. Familiarity with procurement and payment systems, purchase order workflows, and project cost controls. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information to management, investors, auditors, and cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining financial accuracy.
