The Senior Accountant will assist the Director of Finance in maintaining accurate and compliant accounting records, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant healthcare financial regulations.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience. 1-3 years of accounting experience, healthcare experience preferred.
Accounting Expertise:
Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits, and a clear understanding of the distinction between the balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) statement, along with related account classifications. Proficient understanding of how the trial balance contributes to the balance sheet and P&L. Experience with fund accounting, particularly relevant in healthcare, is a plus. Ability to independently perform various account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and implement effective resolutions. This may include reconciliations for bank accounts, accounts receivable (including patient accounts), prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses, accounts payable, debt, leases, and net asset restrictions specific to healthcare organizations. Skilled in preparing comprehensive audit support documentation. Capable of drafting accurate adjusting journal entries.
Technical & Analytical Acumen:
Ability to understand the interrelationships and interactions between various financial and operational information systems within a hospital environment. Aptitude for connecting operational statistics (e.g., patient volumes, procedure counts) to financial trends and fluctuations in account balances. Proficiency in performing recurring and ad-hoc financial analysis to identify the root causes of account balance variances. Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and conditional logic statements. Experience with Power Query is a plus.

Pay:
$72,669.58 - $87,516.05 per year
