Duties Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards. Reconcile general ledger accounts regularly through detailed account and bank reconciliations, utilizing tools like Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks desktop and online. Manage journal entries, accruals, and month-end closing processes with precision and timeliness. Assist with audit preparations by providing supporting documentation and explanations for financial transactions. Mentor junior team members on technical accounting concepts, best practices in double-entry bookkeeping, and the use of financial software tools. Sales tax returns IFTA returns Form 2290 — Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Returns HUT — Highway Use Tax returns Other state and local business filings Requirements Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on financial reporting, general ledger management, and account reconciliation. Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, regulatory compliance accounting, and technical accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or equivalent enterprise systems; experience with Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel—is essential. Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, governmental accounting or Wills & Trusts law is a plus but not mandatory. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed financial analysis using Excel data analysis techniques like VLOOKUP functions and spreadsheet modeling. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Strong communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments.
