Senior Accountant (Temporary-to-Hire)

Salary Range:
$85,000 annualized (commensurate with experience) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant for a key role at our manufacturing facility. This is a temporary-to-hire opportunity featuring a 3-to-6-month evaluation period designed to ensure a mutual fit before transitioning into a permanent staff position. Once selected, this individual can start immediately. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in manufacturing finance, bringing hands-on cost accounting experience, rigorous month-end closing capabilities, and a meticulous approach to general ledger management.
Key Responsibilities Cost Accounting:
Maintain, analyze, and update standard costs, bill of materials (BOMs), and routing sheets; perform variance analysis (labor, material, and overhead) to support operational efficiency.
Month-End Close:
Manage and execute the full month-end closing cycle, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and prepaids are accurately recorded on schedule.
Account Reconciliation:
Perform complex balance sheet and bank reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies.
General Ledger Management:
Maintain the general ledger, review financial statements for accuracy, and assist with financial reporting.
Audit & Compliance:
Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules, documentation, and variance explanations.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with plant leadership to streamline financial workflows, enhance internal controls, and optimize cost-tracking systems.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or closely related financial discipline).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Core Competencies:
Demonstrated, proven experience leading or heavily contributing to month-end close processes. Solid background in cost accounting (variance analysis, inventory valuation, overhead allocation). Advanced proficiency in general ledger maintenance and complex account reconciliations .
Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, financial modeling); familiarity with major ERP systems (e.g., IQMS (preferred), SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar manufacturing platforms).
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical mindset, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to partner effectively with plant operations and management.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Must be able to work on site-NO

What to Expect During the Evaluation Period During the 3-to-6-month contract phase, you will work closely with the CFO, accounting team and plant operations teams to master our specific cost structures and financial routines. This period serves as a practical assessment for both parties to evaluate cultural fit, daily workflow, and long-term potential for permanent placement.
