Job Description

Cost Accountant | Manufacturing Join a growing manufacturing organization as a Senior Cost Accountant reporting directly to the Plant Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with manufacturing experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with operations to drive financial performance, inventory accuracy, and cost optimization. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead standard cost accounting activities, including maintaining material, labor, and overhead rates within ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Analyze manufacturing cost variances, including material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap, and production yield.
  • Manage inventory accounting processes to ensure accurate inventory valuation and compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory subledgers to the General Ledger and investigate discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and support physical inventory counts, cycle count programs, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Monitor slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory while recommending corrective actions to improve working capital.
  • Partner closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to identify cost drivers and improve operational efficiency.
  • Prepare month-end closing activities, including journal entries, inventory reserve analysis, and cost accounting reports.
  • Develop and distribute KPI dashboards, manufacturing cost reports, and profitability analyses to support business decisions.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, internal audits, external audits, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or general ledger accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory controls, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting functions.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and manufacturing accounting best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills. Why Join Us?
