Job Description

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Staff/Senior Tax Accountant to join our small, established CPA firm. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with at least 2-3 years of recent tax and accounting experience who enjoys working directly with clients and values the opportunity to work across a broad range of accounting and tax services.

The ideal candidate is a licensed
CPA, CPA
candidate, or Licensed Tax Practitioner, although professional licensure is not required.

Because we are a small firm, this is not a narrowly focused tax preparation role. Team members have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of public accounting, including tax preparation, bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, compilations and reviews, client consulting, and correspondence with federal and state taxing authorities.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare individual and business income tax returns, including:

Form 1040
  • Individual Income Tax ReturnsForm 1065
  • Partnership ReturnsForm 1120
  • C Corporation ReturnsForm 1120-S
  • S Corporation ReturnsPrepare tax projections and assist with year-round tax planning.
Perform bookkeeping and general accounting services for clients as needed.

Prepare financial statements and supporting workpapers.

Assist with compilation and review engagements.

Research tax issues and apply current federal and state tax laws.

Prepare responses to correspondence from the IRS and state taxing agencies.

Work directly with clients to gather financial information, answer questions, and resolve tax and accounting matters.

Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships.

Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.

Assist with additional accounting, tax, and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications2-3+ years of recent tax preparation and accounting experience, preferably within a public accounting environment.

Experience preparing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S.Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.

Experience with bookkeeping and general ledger accounting.

Familiarity with professional tax preparation software; UltraTax experience is a plus.

Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Ability to work independently, take ownership of assignments, and consistently meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.

Comfortable communicating directly with clients, the IRS, and state taxing agencies.

Willingness to take on a broad range of responsibilities in a small-firm environment.
