Job Description

The Staff Accountant is a non-exempt technical accounting position responsible for accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries across multiple entities within a multi-fund accounting system. The position processes deposits and payments received by ACH and from Grants or the Federal Government, maintains receivable identities and financial records, supports accounting workflows, and ensures documentation is accurately entered, coded, scanned, filed, and retained in our systems.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position completes assigned work accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines while adapting to changing priorities and department needs. Duties may vary based on Finance Department priorities and requirements. 1. Record Monthly Journal Entries for all Revenue and Receivables and the entry of those in G/L system. 2. Processes of incoming notices of funds to be received as a receivable and due to us as they are received from our programs and submits those journal entries to the Finance Manager for review and posting. 3. Follow up regarding missing receivable notices or supporting documentation. 4. Prepares and reconciles all GL Asset and Liability Accounts. 5. Preparation and Analysis of AR Allowance for Doubtful Accounts on all 40 projects. 6. Prepares Quarterly Vacation Accrual Entry. 7. Balance and reconciliation of all Tenant Receivables. 8. Balances Security Deposit Investment Account and Liabilities. 9. Collaborate with Financial Analyst on Preparation of Monthly Financial Reports and Annual Audits. 10. Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of Monthly reporting, six months unaudited and annual audited REAC submission after final audit. 11. Prepare annual Insurance Worksheet. 12. Back up to Accounts Receivable to ensure the daily deposits are completed and presented to the Banks for processing by the check reader or by going to the bank. 13. Backup for creating all after reports from Payroll, preparing JV entries for payroll, allocations of payroll and allocation of expenses to other departments, and benefits Journal Entries. 14. Maintain the monthly task checklist accurately and on time to support closing each monthly cycle collaborating with the Financial Analysts to achieve this. 15. Back up for Monthly Allocations for Administrative Costs.
Job Qualifications:
Education & Experience Associate's degree in business finance or accounting from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university; and Four years of progressive responsibility general accounting ledger work or experience in a high-volume setting. Experience in Fund Accounting and ERP systems. Mid-Level Excel Skills An equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position will be considered in lieu of the outlined requirements. License or Certificates Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record that meets agency requirements is required. New employees who establish Oregon residency must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days as required by
ORS 807.020
