Accountant Pittsburgh Glass Works United States, Pennsylvania, Tipton Sep 14, 2026 KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, COURSES, SKILLS

AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Experience with Federal, State, and Local tax law in the US

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

Previous experience in FP&A preferred, specifically in manufacturing

The successful candidate will have good communication and analysis skills

Advanced knowledge of PC's and spreadsheet design and usage.

The individual must be able to work well independently, have highly effective organizational skills.

Knowledge of Vitro accounting and production systems (or equivalent).

PURPOSE:

The position is responsible for hands on reporting and coordination of all accounting functions in the area of budgeting, cost estimates, inventory control and monthly closings. In addition, this position is also responsible for providing the Business Unit and Plant Management with accurate and timely information related to the above functions, while maintaining compliance with VITRO corporate policies, government regulations and GAAP standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Incumbent is responsible for product costing and inventory valuation, as well as supervision of ongoing production reporting and shipping transactions.
  • Position is responsible for the monthly monitoring and managing of the closing process, and is required to guide the local team in full completion of the closing process, within the required corporate guidelines and utmost accuracy.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the plant P&L and Balance Sheet through diligent variance analysis, account reconciliation review and approvals and analysis and ongoing transaction monitoring under the controller's supervision.

Heavily involved with plant supply chain and inventory management personnel to ensure that local inventory management processes adhere to the PGW Controller's Manual. Additionally, Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for conducting all elements of the physical inventory process, both annual or cycle counting.

The incumbent is a critical part of the annual budget process, as well as weekly and monthly forecasting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Fixed and variable absorption, updates recognition and quantification of productivity improvements and projected spending on a detailed account basis.

Similarly, the incumbent is instrumental in the creation of the weekly projection and monthly results dashboard reporting. Working with functional leaders as necessary to explain and comment on major variances

This role will provide ongoing support to the operations team in quantifying the financial impact of operations decisions including cost reduction and investment analysis.

The position will complete ad hoc analyses on an ongoing basis, at the request of the Plant Manager, Plant Controller and Business Unit Finance Group.

Function also provides support for plant Storeroom.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally, works in an office setting under desirable conditions with few or no disagreeable features; however, may be required to perform duties in the warehouse or mfg. Plant.

Office may be located inside manufacturing plant

This position may require some weekend/evening hours as business needs dictate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required totalk orhear. This islargely asedentary role; however, some filing isrequired. This would require the ability to lift files, open filingcabinets, andbendor stand on astoolas necessary.
