An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
MediaNews Group is looking for a GL Accountant to join our team. This position is responsible for all GL activities related to payroll, withholdings, and benefits for all assigned properties (newspapers) owned by MediaNews Group and Tribune Publishing Co.

Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Colorado or Ohio.
What you will do:
For assigned properties, prepare weekly, biweekly, and monthly journal entries and supporting schedules Prepare documentation for journal entries in the areas of payroll and benefits Enter journal entries into Oracle Complete reconciliations within the Oracle ARCS online reconciliation module Research and clear reconciling items from account reconciliations in a timely manner Field questions/inquiries from department heads, FP&A contacts, and publishers regarding financial results and perform research activities Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles What you will bring: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 1-3 years of accounting experience, including account reconciliations and financial close cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual) Experience with multi-entity or intercompany accounting Strong understanding of financial statements and general ledger accounting principles Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and multi-tabbed workbooks Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across departments and with external vendors Strong problem-solving ability with the agility to navigate less-standardized processes
Benefits and Compensation:
The salary range is $62,500 - $65,000 . Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
