full-time The Junior Accounting Associate provides bookkeeping and administrative support to the Empire Ag Accounting team. This role is designed for individuals beginning their accounting career who are eager to build a strong foundation in bookkeeping, financial systems, and client service.
Reporting to the Team Lead, the Junior Accounting Associate assists with routine accounting tasks, maintains accurate financial records, and helps ensure client books remain organized and up to date. This position allows Accounting Associates to focus on higher-level client advisory work while providing the Junior Accounting Associate with opportunities to grow into a full Accounting Associate role. This is a developmental position with a defined career path from Junior Accounting Associate to Accounting Associate to Senior Accounting Associate.
This role is approximately:85 percent bookkeeping and financial support15 percent administrative and flex supportMajor Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Complete bank and credit card reconciliations under the review of the Team Lead.
Maintain organized and accurate bookkeeping records in QuickBooks Online.
Support workflows and documentation in Double (formerly Keeper).Provide basic data entry support to the Figured software specialist as directed.
Organize and maintain digital client files and supporting financial documentation.
Assist with client onboarding documentation and other administrative accounting tasks.
Support audit preparation by organizing requested documentation.
Follow established accounting procedures, internal workflows, and data security standards.
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
This role requires consistent accuracy, timely completion of work, and proactive communication when issues ariseRequirementsAssociate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.0 to 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting best practices.
Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, including hands-on experience navigating the platform.
Proficiency with Google Workspace.
Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Double (formerly Keeper), which the team uses for workflow and documentation management.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to follow established processes and work independently after training.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information.
Confidence to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
Experience working with agricultural businesses is a plus.
Relevant certifications such as QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor or Certified Bookkeeper are a plus.
