Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Project Accountant to support the financial administration of civil engineering projects. This position will work closely with Project Managers and the Accounting team to ensure accurate project billing, cost tracking, financial reporting, and project records.
Core Responsibilities:
- Set up and maintain project financial information, budgets, contracts, billing terms, and project phases. Responsible for Accounts Payable and semi-monthly check runs
- Prepare and process monthly project billings in accordance with client contracts.
- Review employee time, expenses, reimbursable costs, and subconsultant invoices for accuracy and proper project coding.
- Track project costs, budgets, billings, contract balances, and accounts receivable.
- Assist Project Managers with project financial reporting, budget-to-actual analysis, forecasting, and variance tracking.
- Maintain accurate project accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, clients, vendors, and subconsultants to resolve billing and accounting issues.
- Provide other accounting support as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, engineers, clients, and accounting staff. Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally. Familiarity with project accounting, billing, or professional services environments is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of accounting, project accounting, or related experience preferred.
- Experience in civil engineering, engineering consulting, architecture, or other professional services firm is a plus.
- Experience with CRM and/or Deltek Ajera a plus
