Project Accountant Overview of the Project Accountant Opportunity Our client, a growing organization within the construction and real estate development industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join their collaborative accounting team. This Project Accountant position plays a critical role in managing project-related billing, vendor cost tracking, account reconciliations, and reporting across multiple active projects. The ideal Project Accountant is highly organized, customer service focused, and comfortable partnering with both internal project teams and external clients. Key Responsibilities of the Project Accountant Client Billing & Invoicing Manage a high volume of client invoicing. Coordinate with project teams to ensure project costs are accurately captured and billed. Prepare, review, and submit invoices in a timely manner. Research and resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries. Maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers. Support accounts receivable activities, including posting customer payments and assisting project teams with collections efforts. Vendor & Subconsultant Cost Management Process vendor and subconsultant invoices. Review and assign appropriate project coding for costs and expenses. Track project-related expenditures and ensure accuracy within project accounting systems. Partner with project managers to validate costs and maintain accurate project financial data. Assist with expense management and invoice workflows within project accounting software. Project Reporting & Account Reconciliations Generate project reports through Procore and other project accounting systems. Analyze project cost data and provide reporting support to project teams. Perform accounts receivable reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records. Assist with month-end activities and accounting clean-up efforts. Support special projects and ad hoc reporting requests. Provide financial information that helps project teams make informed decisions. Minimum Qualifications for the Project Accountant Must-Have Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Minimum of 2 years of project accounting experience. Experience with accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and collections support. Strong understanding of project-based accounting environments. Advanced Microsoft 365 proficiency. Experience working within project accounting software. Strong Excel skills, including: Pivot Tables Data sorting and analysis Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Procore. Experience with Business Central. Construction, engineering, architecture, development, or real estate industry experience. Exposure to month-end close processes. Target salary range:
