Job Description

Pathway Homes is a nonprofit organization providing housing and services for adults with mental illness, substance use disorders and a history of homelessness. We have an immediate opening for a full-time (40 hours/week) Project Accountant in our administrative Office located in Fairfax, VA. The schedule is flexible business hours Monday - Friday with some teleworking capacity.
Project Accountant :
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures accurate processing and payment of all bills and invoices for grants and projects. Accounts for, records, and deposits all revenues, including client and grant funding for COC grants and projects. Collects and responds to inquiries on rent collections and balances, including meeting with residents to discuss details. Prepares financial statements, expenditure reports, and supporting reconciliations. Maintains fixed asset records, schedules, and depreciation entries. Maintains and prepares grant information to provide accurate billing and/or drawdown requests for COC grants and projects. Reconciles all rent payments paid by ACH to monthly bank statements, accounts for differences, and follows up as necessary with landlords and tenants. Prepares or assists in the preparation of various financial and analytical reports, lead schedules, and statistical reports for COC grants and projects. Reconciles assigned bank accounts monthly and appropriately records deposits, charges, and outstanding checks and deposits. Reviews the general ledger and subsidiary accounts monthly for accuracy and prepares all necessary adjusting entries. Serves as lead accountant for various COC grants and projects. Prepares all required audit support and lead schedules for COC grants and projects. Responsible for maintaining individual eligibility to operate a motor vehicle for work-related functions and duties.
Required Qualifications:
BS/BA Accounting, Finance and/or Business Degree. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office products. Minimum two years accounting experience.
