Job Description
Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor and Controller, the Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day full-cycle accounting functions required to produce monthly financial statements for properties owned by joint-venture structures or third parties. This position is eligible for work from home 2 days a week after 6 months of employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and manage all accounting functions at the property level for accrual and cash properties. Prepare financial statements including General ledger month-end closing, including detailed reconciled balance sheets; amortization schedules; actual to budget variance reviews, accruals, and allocations. Work effectively with property management team to facilitate accurate entries at the property level and assist in responding to tenant and owner request for financial information. Prepare timely and accurate monthly property financial statements by deadlines established by client. Submit financial statements and work papers within the proper time frame for review to include documentation. Prepare monthly rent billing and tenant billbacks. Maintain a working knowledge of property management agreements and leases. Assist with internal and external audit requests. Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
NoneQUALIFICATIONS
5 + years of commercial real estate accounting experience required. Yardi, or similar software experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Strong attention to detail, problem solving and resolution Ability to work independently and follow through on deadlinesEDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Degreed in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experiencePHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
