The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, accounts payable management, financial reporting, and compliance across multiple projects, vendors, and cost centers. This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage day-to-day accounting operations while also identifying opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes, and enhance reporting through technology and analytics. This position requires working onsite at our Kent, Washington headquarters a minimum of three days per week, with the remaining schedule eligible for hybrid flexibility. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding to general ledger accounts, jobs, and cost codes Maintain accurate vendor records, onboarding documentation, and compliance files Prepare payment batches including ACH, checks, and credit card payments, for approval Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies Monitor accounts payable aging and assist with cash flow planning Support evaluation and implementation of AP automation tools Payroll Administration Administer payroll using ADP Workforce Now (or similar platform) Review payroll data, perform audit checks, and validate payroll accuracy Manage payroll communications and employee inquiries Coordinate payroll inputs, including hours, bonuses, compensation changes, and deductions Reconcile payroll reports and prepare payroll-related journal entries Ensure payroll tax filings and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Maintain payroll records and state/local payroll accounts Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 review and audits Assist in evaluating payroll system enhancements or migration opportunities Benefits Administration Serve as liaison with benefit providers, brokers, and payroll specialists Manage employee benefit deductions and ensure payroll accuracy Maintain benefit records within systems such as Employee Navigator Prepare and file annual 1095-C forms Accounting Operations Support monthly close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries Ensure all financial activity complies with GAAP and internal company policies Maintain organized financial documentation for audits and reporting Support job costing, project reporting, and financial analysis Collaborate with sales, production, and operational leadership teams Prepare and submit B&O tax filings Manage business licenses and other regulatory compliance requirements Support additional accounting projects as needed Data Analytics, Systems & Process Improvement Utilize advanced analytics, exception reporting, AI, and automation tools to improve financial accuracy and efficiency Identify process gaps, reporting inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement Assist in building dashboards, analytics models, and reporting tools to support business decisions Required Experience & Skills Minimum 6+ years of accounting experience in payroll, accounts payable, and accounting operations Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles Working knowledge of payroll regulations and federal/state compliance requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel , accounting software, and technology platforms Experience building analytics, leveraging automation, and utilizing AI tools Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and independently solve problems Ability to work onsite in Kent, WA at least 3 days per week Strongly Preferred CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification Construction, project-based, or job-cost accounting experience Direct experience with ADP Workforce Now and QuickBooks Online Advanced Experience with Buildertrend or similar CRM/job costing platforms If you're ready to bring your accounting expertise, systems mindset, and commitment to excellence to a growing company that values people first, we'd love to meet you.
