The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger and month-end close experience, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to manage accounting and financial operations in a fast-paced environment. The Sr. Accountant role is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite. This is a direct hire position. Sr. Accountant Responsibilities Manage assigned general ledger accounts, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, and monthly and year-end close activities. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records. Manage recurring Finance processes, calendars, checklists, documentation, deadlines, and cross-training initiatives. Support payroll and administrative HR processes, including onboarding and offboarding, employee records, payroll review and reconciliation, benefits, retirement deductions, and compliance documentation. Support seasonal workforce operations, including payroll setup, employee documentation, international employee requirements, Form 1042-S support, and issue resolution. Manage and reconcile cash, banking activity, deposits, merchant transactions, accounts receivable, program revenue, financial assistance, scholarships, discounts, credits, and refunds. Research and resolve variances between operating systems and accounting records. Provide hands-on Finance support for seasonal programs, including cash management, payroll, purchasing, AP/AR, staff transactions, reconciliations, and post-season closeout. Prepare schedules and financial analysis for management, Board, and Finance Committee reporting. Support budget-to-actual analysis, departmental and program reporting, financial metrics, and identification of trends and risks. Support accounting and reporting for donor-restricted funds, grants, and endowments, including releases from restriction, reconciliations, grant schedules, and reporting deadlines. Prepare audit and year-end schedules, respond to auditor requests, and support Form 990 schedules and audit recommendations. Provide backup support for accounts payable and purchasing card activities, including coding, approvals, reconciliations, and vendor issues. Serve as a key Finance user of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related systems. Support system integrations, testing, data validation, documentation, training, automation, and process improvements. Continuously improve accounting, payroll, HR, and operational processes by strengthening controls, reducing manual processes, and documenting procedures. Sr. Accountant Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Three-plus years of progressive accounting, financial operations, payroll, or related experience; five-plus years preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP with hands-on general ledger, account reconciliation, and month-end close experience. Strong Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to independently research and resolve accounting and operational issues. Strong ownership of recurring processes with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
