This fully remote position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting payroll-related accounting, and driving a timely month-end close process. The assignment is expected to run approximately 3 to 4 months and is ideal for someone who can work independently, adapt quickly, and contribute with minimal ramp-up time.
Responsibilities:
Manage core corporate accounting activities across the general ledger to ensure financial data is recorded accurately and consistently. Oversee accounting related to debt activity, sales tax, accruals, and other recurring corporate transactions. Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries and maintain payroll accruals with a strong focus on accuracy between close cycles. Support the month-end close process within a 5 to 7 business day timeline, including reconciliations and review of accounting results. Perform variance and flux analysis to identify notable changes in balances and explain financial movement from period to period. Generate reports from internal accounting systems, evaluate the data, and use findings to support decision-making and reporting needs. Provide ongoing accounting support throughout the month, with increased attention to payroll accounting requirements outside of close periods. Assist with general reconciliations, journal entry review, and other ad hoc accounting tasks needed to maintain smooth financial operations. At least 3 years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in corporate accounting environments. Demonstrated success managing month-end close activities and meeting tight reporting deadlines. Solid experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations. Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to work with PivotTables and analyze large data sets efficiently. Comfortable extracting, reviewing, and interpreting reports from accounting or ERP systems. Able to step into an active role quickly, work with limited supervision, and operate effectively in a remote setting. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities accurately. Experience in manufacturing or distribution is helpful, though not required.
