This position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k). Responsibilities Support full-cycle accounting activities across multiple entities and operating programs. Prepare and post journal entries in support of monthly and year-end close. Perform detailed balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations. Research and resolve reconciling items, variances, and accounting discrepancies. Maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and established accounting policies. Support accounting activities related to residential properties and other assigned operations. Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual financial activity. Prepare balance sheet roll-forwards, supporting schedules, and other close documentation. Assist with consolidation of financial data across multiple entities. Support preparation of internal financial statements, management reports, and related financial schedules. Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits. Respond to auditor inquiries and assist with resolving audit-related matters. Maintain and support internal controls over financial reporting. Assist with documenting accounting procedures, controls, and workflows. Perform periodic reviews of accounting processes and recommend improvements where appropriate. Support regulatory, tax, and compliance-related accounting activities. Assist with preparation of schedules supporting annual tax and informational filings. Support business license, property tax, and other required federal, state, and local filings as needed. Partner with accounting leadership and other internal departments to research accounting issues and ensure proper financial treatment. Support ERP enhancements, system improvements, and accounting process automation initiatives. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting accuracy and efficiency. Provide accounting guidance and support to junior accounting team members as appropriate. Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. At least three years of progressive general ledger or financial accounting experience. Strong hands-on experience with monthly and year-end close processes. Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses required. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience managing balance sheet reconciliations for cash and non-cash accounts. Previous real estate or property accounting experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting accounting for residential properties is a plus. Nonprofit, government contracting, or similarly complex multi-entity accounting experience preferred. Experience with consolidated financial reporting preferred. Experience supporting internal and external audits. Knowledge of internal controls and accounting process documentation. Experience with Workday, Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or another large ERP/accounting system preferred. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including PivotTables and
VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
functions. Experience supporting ERP enhancements or accounting system improvements preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy. Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities and meet established deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Self-motivated with a continuous-improvement mindset. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to partner effectively with accounting, finance, operational, and other internal teams. Ability to work on-site in Oakton two days per week.
