Staff Accountant / Company Accountant Honey's Roofing, LLC —
Waco, TX Salary:
$60,000-$80,000 per year, DOE Full-Time | Salary Position | Work From Home Initially About Us Honey's Roofing, LLC is a well-established, locally trusted roofing company serving the Waco and Central Texas area. We have been in business for 23 years and are approaching our 24th year , and we take pride in building lasting relationships with our customers, employees, vendors, and subcontractors. We are a growing company with approximately 18 employees , a large network of subcontractors and vendors, and a strong reputation in the community. Our team has a very low turnover rate, and we are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term part of our company—not someone looking for a temporary position. About the Position We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant / Company Accountant to take over the accounting responsibilities for our roofing business while also assisting with the accounting and tax-related needs of our rental properties. This is an important position within our company, and we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, organized, and knowledgeable in accounting and taxes . Our current accountant plans to retire/leave the position in March 2027 , and we would ideally like our new accountant to begin around the end of 2026 or January 2027 . This will allow for several months of overlap and hands-on training with our current accountant so you can learn our specific processes, systems, vendors, subcontractors, and the way we operate our business. While we expect the successful candidate to already have a strong understanding of accounting, we recognize that every company does things a little differently. We want to give you the time and opportunity to learn the ropes before taking over the position independently. Primary Responsibilities — Roofing Company Full-cycle accounting for the roofing business Accounts payable and accounts receivable Bank and credit card reconciliations Payroll-related accounting and reporting Vendor and subcontractor accounting Job costing and expense tracking Financial statement preparation and review Maintaining accurate and organized financial records Sales tax reporting and compliance Preparing information for tax filings Working with our CPA/tax professionals as needed Tracking company expenses and ensuring proper account classification Monitoring outstanding receivables and payables Maintaining accurate records for a large number of vendors and subcontractors Assisting ownership with financial reporting and accounting questions Other general accounting responsibilities as needed Rental Business Responsibilities Our rental business requires a much smaller accounting workload.
Responsibilities will primarily include:
Data entry and maintaining accurate rental records Tracking income and expenses Maintaining documentation for tax purposes Providing information needed for annual tax filings Assisting with rental-related accounting and reporting as needed
What We're Looking For Required:
Proven accounting experience Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles Knowledge of federal and state tax requirements Excellent attention to detail Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently and manage deadlines Strong computer and accounting software skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Dependable and consistent work habits
Preferred:
Accounting experience in the roofing, construction, or contracting industry Experience with job costing Experience working with subcontractors and construction vendors Experience with sales tax Experience preparing information for business and/or property tax filings Experience with a small-to-medium-sized privately owned business The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is looking for a career, not simply a job . Schedule & Compensation Salary:
$60,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications Full-time, salaried position Work from home initially Position is expected to transition to in-office work once our expanded office is completed , potentially as early as early 2027 Half-day Fridays Monday-Thursday full workdays Paid time off begins after one year: 1 week PTO after 1 year 2 weeks PTO annually after 5 years No company-sponsored benefits currently offered Training & Transition Our current accountant is expected to remain through March 2027 , providing a valuable transition period for the person selected for this position. We believe this is a major advantage. You will have the opportunity to work directly with the person currently handling our accounting, ask questions, learn our processes, and become familiar with our books before taking full responsibility.
