About Us:

Sandy Hook Yacht Sales (SHYS) is a growing marine boat dealership with locations in New Jersey, Connecticut, South Carolina, and Florida. We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team at our Sea Bright, NJ headquarters and help support the financial operations of a busy, multi-location dealership.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Accountant with strong hands-on expertise in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to manage day-to-day accounting functions, support month-end close, and help maintain accurate financial records across our operations. This role offers a hybrid schedule, but candidates must live locally to our Sea Bright, NJ headquarters and be able to come into the office as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and deposit reconciliations Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Track and reconcile deal-related revenue and inventory costs specific to dealership operations Assist with payroll processing and related journal entries Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial forecasting Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting best practices Collaborate with management on ad hoc financial analysis and reporting Assist with preparation of documentation for tax filings and outside CPA review

Qualifications:

3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a small-to-medium sized business Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required Strong understanding of general accounting principles Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations) Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Must live locally to Sea Bright, NJ and be available to work on-site as needed for this hybrid role

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience in the marine, automotive, or dealership/retail industry Experience with deal/inventory accounting or floor plan financing QuickBooks Online certification
