Staff Accountant - Public Accounting Tyler, Texas | Full-Time | Primarily In-Office | $55,000-$70,000 Are you an accountant with a few years of experience who is ready to broaden your skills and take the next step in your career? Squyres & Co. LLP is seeking a Staff Accountant with approximately 1-3 years of accounting experience to join our Tyler office. Public accounting experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with relevant accounting experience and a strong accounting background. We are an established East Texas CPA firm serving a diverse group of businesses, organizations, and individuals. Our Staff Accountants gain broad experience in tax and assurance while working directly with experienced professionals and the firm's partners. This is an opportunity to develop as a well-rounded public accountant rather than being limited to a narrow specialty. What You'll Do
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts and estates, and nonprofit organizations.
- Assist with audit, review, compilation, and other assurance and accounting engagements.
- Prepare workpapers and supporting schedules.
- Research accounting and tax matters as appropriate.
- Assist with bookkeeping, accounting, or payroll projects when needed.
- Work with senior accountants and partners on a diverse range of client engagements.
- Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve routine questions.
- Develop technical and professional skills necessary for increased responsibility and advancement within the firm. Qualifications
- Approximately 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, with public accounting experience preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or sufficient college-level accounting coursework combined with relevant accounting experience.
- CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
