About the Role We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and assisting with the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. This role is responsible for the maintenance of accounting records, agency management system reports and assisting with the calculation of producer commissions payable. This role also ensures the integrity of financial information and performs specific tasks to support the accounting team. Key Responsibilities Revenue & Commission Accounting Record and reconcile commission and fee revenue (new business, renewals, etc.) Tie out agency management system data to general ledger Assist in the proper handling of insurance agency trust accounting in accordance with applicable state laws and brokerage 'best practices' Assist with producer commission reporting Carrier Payables & Cash Management Reconcile premium payables to carriers Track and clear agency bill vs. direct bill transactions Ensure timely remittance of premiums to carriers Investigate and resolve discrepancies between broker and carrier statements Month-End Close Prepare and post journal entries (commissions, accruals, prepaid expenses) Perform bank and account reconciliations Assist in closing process (typically fast-paced, high transaction volume) Maintain supporting schedules and documentation Support preparation of monthly financial statement Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures Systems & Process Improvement Work with systems such as: Agency management systems (Applied EPIC/EZLynx, Salesforce) Accounting ERP (NetSuite) Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements Support data integrity between systems Audit & Compliance Assist with external audit requests Maintain documentation for revenue recognition and controls Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in accounting 2-5 years of accounting experience in insurance brokerage Experience with Applied EPIC or EZLynx Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, lookups, etc.) Growth mindset and eagerness to learn within a complex, customized environment Core Competencies High attention to detail in a high-volume transactional environment Ability to reconcile complex, multi-system data Strong organizational and time management skills Analytical mindset with ability to identify discrepancies quickly Clear communication across accounting and operations teams Nice to Have Experience with Salesforce Experience with Comulate automation tool CPA license or candidate pursuing certification Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Opportunity in a high-growth, PE-backed company Full health, dental, and vision coverage Generous PTO and flexible hybrid work culture
