Staff Accountant / Senior Staff Accountant

Cleveland area local CPA firm seeks degreed accountant who is eager to help our clients work ON their business so that they won't have to work so hard IN their business. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's and/or master's degree in accounting (CPA eligible) and will have experience in income and payroll tax preparation, general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, audits, reviews and compilations for smaller, family-owned and operated enterprises. Candidates should have a college degree with a major in accounting, be a CPA or CPA-candidate, and have from zero to five years of experience.

Staff accountants are expected to:

• Interact with client and firm personnel in a courteous and professional manner
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well independently
• Have a strong commitment to superior client service
• Be organized and detail oriented
• Be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
• Passed the CPA exam or progressing toward passing the CPA exam
• Assist on tax compliance and tax planning engagements
• Assist on audit, review, compilation and financial statement preparation engagements Preferred Skills
• Experience with small business tax planning and tax preparation
• Proficiency with tax compliance and tax planning
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for small businesses
